About the event:
The morning of 2025, March 12th, Parliament member Aiv Puglieli and his delegation visited the Shandong association head office for research and investigation. Chairman Jordan Chen and board members attended the meeting on behalf of the association.
Aiv introduced Australia’s democratic electoral process, the jurisdiction of different levels of government, the legislative process in Victoria, and the roles of the Upper and Lower Houses in passing legislation. He encouraged more Chinese Australians to engage in politics, communicate effectively with government bodies, and contribute suggestions. This would not only protect their own rights but also contribute to the development of Victoria and Australia as a whole.
He expressed gratitude for the long-standing support from the Shandong Association. On December 6, 2024, he had invited 30 members to tour the Victorian Parliament House, and now he personally visited the association to gain deeper insights.
The discussion highlighted Shandong Province as the birthplace of Confucius and Mencius, a major economic power in China with a population of over 100 million and one of the top three in GDP.
The Shandong Association remains committed to helping members integrate into mainstream society, build a harmonious community, and support fellow Shandong natives in settling and thriving in Victoria. It is also dedicated to fostering economic and cultural exchange between Victoria and Shandong, contributing to bilateral development. The association warmly invited Aiv to visit Shandong in the future.
