About the event:
The 2020 Australian Federal Budget online release conference was held on October 7, 2020, at 7:30 PM. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Scott Morrison and several federal government ministers and members of parliament. Mr. Jordan Chen (Chen Guangbao), President of the Australia-China Business Bridge (ACBB), was invited along with other representatives from various industry associations.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Morrison and his cabinet members explained the new fiscal year's budget policies to attendees and briefly outlined how the budget would be implemented.
The Hon. Alan Tudge — Member of Parliament, Minister for Immigration, Population, Cities, and Urban Infrastructure — attended the meeting. Representing the wider Chinese-Australian community, President Chen actively conveyed public sentiment regarding the impact of government policies, advocating for more humane and supportive measures for Chinese communities in Australia.
President Chen raised two key questions with The Hon. Simon Birmingham, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, and The Hon. Alan Tudge, Minister for Immigration, focusing on trade and immigration matters.
Regarding the strained China-Australia relations and the current trade situation, President Chen asked whether there were budget plans to support the development of new markets in countries such as Japan, South Korea, and other Southeast Asian nations, in order to assist Australian-based traders.
